M.P. signs MoUs with 5 power cos

The Madhya Pradesh Government has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with five companies for setting up thermal power projects in the State with investments to the tune of Rs 14,500 crore.
The companies include Kedia Power Ltd, Bhopal; SJK PowerGen, Hyderabad; Jaiprakash Associates, New Delhi; Torrent Power, Ahmedabad and Aryan Coal Benefications, New Delhi.
While SJK PowerGen will set up two units of 500 MW each, Kedia Power will set up 2 units of 300 MW apart from Jaiprakash Associates (2x250 MW), Torrent Power (2x500 MW) and Aryan Coal (2x250 MW).
The respective company representatives signed the MoUs with the Energy Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, Mr Sanjay Bandopadhyaya, in the presence of the Chief Minister, Mr Shivraj Singh Chauhan, during the Investors Meet at Khajuraho.The Hyderabad-based SJK PowerGen, which is part of the diversified SJK Group, will invest Rs 4,000 crore in its two 500 MW units proposed to come up at PondiRampur in Annupur district. Its Director (Finance), Mr T. Surendra, signed the MoU for the company.
