TCL arm in pact with DSK Info

Chinese electronics major TCL - manufacturer of range of TFT monitors - is now planning to bring in its range of laptops and desktops for the first time into the domestic market.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Pune-based DSK Infotech Pvt Ltd with Worldman Technology Company Ltd, a subsidiary of TCL Inc, to bring in the range of laptops and desktops. An official communication said a new joint venture company, DSK-Woldman Technology Pvt Ltd, is expected to be floated to undertake the assembling operations, national distribution, sales and services for its IT range. DSK Infotech would be making the initial investment of Rs 5 crore in setting up the necessary infrastructure, it said.

The domain expertise, technical know-how to set up the modern assembly unit and brand name along with the existing sales and service network spread across the 26 locations in the country would be handled by Worldman. Mr Roy Zhang, Director, Worldman, stated that this was the first time in its global operations that TCL was venturing into this type of an association with a local company to undertake the assembly operations of its IT and digital products.
