New Projects States - Tamil Nadu Sarin International opens branch in Madurai Our Correspondent
According to the Business Development Manager-Filaments, South Asia Region of E.I.DuPont, Mr Immanuel Dayal Walker, the organised paint brush manufacturing industry in the country has been using pig hair as raw material and has been importing it from China. The introduction of DuPont filaments as an alternative has been a success in US and Europe and they were introduced in the country four years ago. So far, DuPont brushes have been coming from the north, mainly from Shenkot and Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Though paint brushes are manufactured in Chennai, Nagercoil, Erode and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, Madurai has been chosen in the south because of the availability of skilled labour, connectivity and low wage rates. DuPont, through its agent will be imparting training to the labourers and contract manufacturing would be adopted, he said. Representation has been made to the State Government to bring down the VAT rate on paint brushes from 12.5 per cent to 4 per cent as levied in Delhi, to face the competition in the market, added Mr S. Kalidoss, Managing Director, Kalidoss Brush Company, Thirumangalam, near here.
