Good demand propped up prices at Kochi dust tea auction, which had 10,67,000 kg on offer. Medium and below medium CTC were firm to dearer by Rs 2-5, while high priced CTC remained steady at last week's levels.

Orthodox high grown varieties were steady to dearer, while medium varieties firmed up by Re 1 to Rs 2. Major blenders were active in the market, while CTC witnessed enquiries from exporters. Domestic buyers were also active in the market.

Best CTC varieties were quoted at Rs 65-Rs 77, medium CTC at Rs 53-Rs 60 and below medium at Rs 46-Rs 52. High grown BOPD varieties fetched Rs 93-Rs 116, medium BOPD ranged at Rs 45-Rs 50 and secondaries were at Rs 39-Rs 42.

There was 4,62,000 kg on offer at the leaf tea auction. High grown orthodox whole leaf grades were firm to dearer by Rs 2-4. Broken and fannings remained steady as buyers chased quality.

Price of medium primary orthodox eased by Rs two to four. Medium secondaries witnessed less demand. CTC were steady to dearer by Re one, particularly the cleaner and blacker varieties. High grown orthodox grades witnessed good demand from CIS and West Asia exporters..

Upcountry buyers absorbed most of the CTC grades.

Best Nilgiri varieties fetched Rs 83-Rs 113, medium orthodox ranged between Rs 46 and Rs 70, while plain orthodox was not quoted. Best CTC leaf realised Rs 55-Rs 60 while medium CTC was quoted at Rs 49-Rs 53.

Kodanad BOPD fetched the top price at Rs 116 in the dust segment, followed by Pasuparai SFD at Rs 93, Parkside BOPD at Rs 93 and Pasuparai FD at Rs 88. In the leaf auction, Havukal FOP commanded the top price at Rs 126, followed by Tiger Hill FPS at Rs 122, Quinshola FOPS at Rs 120, Chamraj OP and Quinshola FOPS at Rs 120.
