Sheet rubber moves higher

Kottayam Jan. 20 Physical rubber prices improved on Saturday. According to sources, the buying interest was expressed as a "weekend syndrome" since most of the players preferred to play safe or take advantage of the absence of global markets on the day. This could be also the reaction of a firm closing in futures, an analyst said.

Sheet rubber moved up to Rs 97 a kg from Rs 96.50 at Kottayam, while it finished steady at Rs 97 a kg at Kochi. Futures firm

The rubber futures maintained the bullish mood on NMCE. The February contract firmed up to Rs 101.47 (Rs 100.99), March to Rs 104.45 (Rs 103.77), April to Rs 108.40 (Rs 107.19) and May to Rs 111.90 (Rs 110.49) per kg for RSS 4. The February contract for the same grade improved to Rs 102.10 a kg from Rs 101.45 a kg on MCX.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: Rs 97 (Rs 96.50); RSS-5: Rs 93 (Rs 92.50); ungraded: Rs 88 (Rs 87.25); ISNR 20: Rs 89.50 (Rs 89) and

latex 60 per cent: Rs 64.70 (Rs 64.20).
