Mundra Port records high throughput

Mundra Port and SEZ Ltd has registered an all-time high throughput of 42.45 lakh tonnes in the third quarter of the current fiscal (October to December 2006), an increase of 89.22 per cent over the corresponding period of 2005 . The port's cumulative handling, too, achieved an all-time high of 92.33 lakh tonnes in the nine months of 2006-07, more than 30.57 lakh tonnes over the corresponding period in 2005. Dry cargo, liquid cargo and crude oil registered an increase of 50 per cent. It also handled the highest numbers of rakes, 217, in December 2006 and, together with the adjoining Mundra International Container Terminal, handled a total of 316 rakes.
