New Delhi Jan. 20 Alps Industries (Alps) has reported a 9 per cent increase in net profit to touch Rs 7.76 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2006, compared with Rs 7.09 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Net sales were up 65 per cent to Rs 113.75 crore compared with Rs 67.93 crore in the same period the previous year.

For the nine-month period ending December 31, 2006, net profit increased by 41 per cent to Rs 23.27 crore (Rs 16.45 crore). Net sales grew by 77.67 per cent to Rs 312.93 crore (Rs 176.12 crore).

Capacity increase

The company is adding around 58 tonnes per day to its yarn-spinning unit in Sahibabad, thereby hiking the total capacity from the current 50 tpd to 108 tpd. It is also in the process of expanding its total weaving capacity in its Haridwar unit from the current 19 million metres per annum to 27.4 mmpa.
