Key year for logistics

The year 2006 was critical for the supply chain management and logistics sector, with a number of key trends and developments, according to Supply Chain Digest. Post a review of the year, the Digest has identified several key developments that impacted the supply chain management and logistics during the year.

These include the critical role played by technology in distribution, consolidation of supply chain vendors, focus on risk management, lowkey union activity on the manufacturing front, fewer problems on the transportation side, global supply chain getting serious and "greening" of the supply chain, that is, environment-friendly supply chain receiving considerable attention.
