Price rise

This is with reference to "Inflation spurts to 6.12 per cent" (Business Line, January 21). Rising inflation is a matter of concern, not something to be alarmed over. Often, we hear of rise in prices through the media, not the local market.

The Finance Minister has explained the base effect and how the decline in the index in the same period the previous year — the year-on-year inflation rate — reflected the spurt.

Why can't we have a State-wise rate also assessed and published?
