Basmati rice major Kohinoor Foods Ltd has announced a 46.18 per cent increase in its profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 8.04 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 against Rs 5.50 crore during the corresponding quarter of 2005-06.

Net sales also went up 29.21 per cent on a year-on-year basis, from Rs 140.43 crore to Rs 181.61 crore. Branded basmati sales rose by 19.58 per cent from Rs 79.20 crore to Rs 94.71 crore. Within this, exports of branded basmati rice increased from Rs 15.76 crore to Rs 22.87 crore, while ready-to-eat foods sales doubled from Rs 5.07 crore to Rs 10.14 crore, according to a company statement here.
