Nabard sanctions Rs 332.72 cr for AP infrastructure

Hyderabad Jan. 23 The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 332.72 crore to Andhra Pradesh for taking up 1,549 rural infrastructure projects.

The project sanctioning committee of the bank had approved the projects under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF-XII). With the present sanction, the cumulative loan assistance to Andhra Pradesh under RIDF tranche XII stood at Rs 770 crore. A major portion of the loan would go to micro irrigation projects.

"A sum of Rs 162.4 crore has been sanctioned for AP Micro Irrigation Project phase II. This project is being implemented in 22 districts," a Nabard press release said. Besides, 30 minor irrigation projects would get Rs 64.16 crore to bring an additional area of 7,948.76 hectares under assured irrigation. Barring one, all the projects would benefit farmers in the `distress districts'.
