Rallying on firm spot prices, urad for February delivery on NCDEX was up 1.76 per cent at Rs 3,245 per quintal. Profit booking in tur saw futures prices lose 1.67 per cent at Rs 2,476 per quintal. Tur futures have rallied from a low of Rs 2,240 per quintal on January 12 to Rs 2,566 level on Monday. After opening at a high of Rs 1,043 per quintal, wheat futures on NCDEX closed lower at Rs 1,035 on lack of buying support. Pepper futures, which had gained Rs 850 per quintal in the last three sessions, lost Rs 162 at Rs 11,736 on profit booking. Sugar and turmeric futures closed at Rs 1,588 per quintal and Rs 2,079 per quintal, respectively. Lower arrivals of soyabean in the spot markets put pressure on the futures prices on NCDEX, which moved up 0.45 per cent to Rs 1,431 per quintal. About 60 per cent of the total soyabean production of 7 lakh tonnes has been sold out. NCDEX registered a turnover of Rs 2,041 crore (Rs 3,044 crore, up to 11 p.m.) up to 5 pm on 67,240 (91,741) trades, while on MCX it was Rs 2,455 crore (Rs 8,273 crore, up to 11 p.m.) on 52,821 (1,58,870) trades.
