H&R Johnson to invest Rs 25 cr in R&D

Tile manufacturer H&R Johnson (India) Ltd is investing Rs 25 crore towards R&D and upgrading manufacturing capabilities. Around Rs 10 crore would be invested in new product development while the balance will be utilised towards upgrading manufacturing capabilities to meet technological requirements to manufacture the new products.

As part of the product portfolio expansion plan, the company will introduce the wood-finish Porselano range in the first phase. The company will also roll out leather-finish and metallic Porselano tiles in the next phase.

The new thrust on Porselano brand is aimed at targeting 10 per cent of the natural flooring market share over the next five years. The natural flooring market largely comprises wood laminates estimated at almost Rs 1,500 crore.
