The Government needs to work closely with the private sector through the public-private initiative to improve facilities at the Buddhist circuit in the country, the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Ms Ambika Soni, has said.
Inaugurating a seminar on `Positioning India as a hub for Buddhist tourism', the Minister said that infrastructural bottlenecks were one of the major hindrances in promoting the circuit.
She said the Ministry of Tourism was hopeful of having an integrated project with an outlay of Rs 570 crore for infrastructure development. The outlay is likely to have some assistance from the Japanese Government.
