Computerisation of panchayats in Kerala

Our Bureau

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 25

The State Government has released guidelines for establishing basic infrastructure for the computerisation of village and block panchayats in the State. The computerisation of the village panchayats in Wayanad and Palakkad districts, where the National Rural Employment Guarantee (NREG) scheme is being implemented, will have to be completed in the current year itself.

These panchayats should take measures to customise the applications developed by the Information Kerala Mission to suit the NREG scheme, according to an official statement. The panchayats will have to bear the expenses for the installation of server, UPS, printer, modem and coats software as also for imparting training to the personnel.
