Century Textiles and Industries Ltd has posted a 11.86 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 33.93 crore (Rs 30.33 crore) for the quarter ended December 31. The net profit has been arrived at after deducting extraordinary items (VRS, gratuity and exit payments) worth Rs 84.11 crore.

Sales have risen 25.35 per cent to Rs 800.95 crore (Rs 638.96 crore). Sales of the cement division grew 53.90 per cent to Rs 459.98 crore (Rs 298.87 crore) while the textile segment registered a marginal drop of 2.77 per cent at Rs 201.01 crore (Rs 206.74 crore). The company's pulp and paper division also grew 5.09 per cent to Rs 141.39 crore (Rs 134.53 crore).

Shares of the company rose 1.53 per cent to close at Rs 708.05 on the BSE.
