Mixed trend in rubber

Kottayam Jan. 27 Physical rubber prices showed a mixed trend on Saturday. Sheet rubber closed steady at Rs 99.50 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi as on Thursday.

The grade touched Rs 100.50 a kg during the session but failed to sustain at higher levels on buyer resistance.

The rubber futures concluded the week in a positive note on NMCE.

The February contract improved to Rs 103.00 (Rs 102.33), March to Rs 105.70 (Rs 105.25), April to Rs 109.90 (Rs 109.48) and May to Rs 114.10 (Rs 113.48) per kg for RSS 4.

The turnover was 2,028 (3,652) tonnes and open interest 11,574 (11,434) tonnes.

The February contract for the grade moved up to Rs 103.03 from Rs 102.21 a kg (176 tonnes) on MCX.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 99.50 (99.50); RSS-5: 95.50 (95); ungraded: 93 (91.50); ISNR 20: 93 (92) and latex 60 per cent: 66.30 (65.25).
