Chennai Jan. 30 Scope International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank Group, UK, has launched a `campus initiative' to reinforce the skills of college graduates, especially soft skills and communication.

As a first step, the group's Chief Executive, Mr Peter Sands, released `InCorporate', a book on soft skills and corporate etiquette. The book gives an overview of the communication skills and corporate etiquette required in today's workplace.

Further, under the InCorporate theme, Scope has signed an agreement with SASTRA University, Thanjavur, for a pilot project that includes working jointly on curriculum design, training programmes and workshops for professors and students, interns, lectures and production of books and teaching aids.

This is an effort to enhance the skills of students, making them a talent pool for the IT industry, said Mr Sreeram Iyer, CEO, Scope International.

The second initiative was launch of `WE@Scope', a portal for women students. The portal aims to empower students through online interaction with women managers of Scope. It would provide online training, counselling, mentoring, career guidance, knowledge of prevailing industry trends and skills required for employment, Mr Iyer said at a function.

As part of the initiative, Scope signed agreements with Stella Maris College and M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women.
