Opinion - Letters
CFO and CEO

The article `CFO is the co-pilot of the CEO' (Business Line, January 30) was interesting and rightly pointed out that the CFO has a vital role to play in the areas of cost, regulation, governance and information. A successful CFO must work closely with the CEO in formulating corporate strategy, and communicating information to all managerial layers in a credible and clear fashion.

The CFO must also look critically at himself and decide whether he possesses the skills and the character to meet the challenges of pace, leadership, initiative and responsibility as per the CEO's vision. It is the CFO who has to interact as a team member to bridge the gap between the various sections. As a strategist, he must expand his horizon to include formulating a vision for the company and seeing how it fits in with the development of the industry itself.
