Pune Jan. 31 Kumar Motors Pvt Ltd, manufacturer of three wheelers `Agni' and `Parinda' is making a foray into the export market and has signed an agreement with business houses in East Africa for supply of 1,500 vehicles.

Announcing this at the opening of a new dealership at Swargate here, Mr C.S. Balachandran, General Manager, Marketing, said that deliveries are to begin by early February, and have to be completed by March 2008. He added that the company has been receiving export enquiries from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and a few Asian countries as well.

Both these vehicles are in the one-tonne category and are designed to serve as both passenger and goods carriers. They are powered by a fully integral, 9-hp, single-cylinder 4-stroke IDI diesel engine and are mounted on a strong tubular chassis, a first in its class in India. They have independent front and back spring suspension, combined with a soft PU steering wheel and are available in red, green, pearl white, blue, yellow and orange.

The company currently produces 400 vehicles a month, and will expand its production to meet its export obligations. The plant has a total manufacturing capacity of 5,000 vehicles per month.
