Chennai Jan 31 The Rs 250-crore Alps Industries Ltd is planning to double its turnover two years with a focus on its home furnishing products, according to Mr Sanjay Gupta, General Manager, Alp Industries Ltd.

The Ghaziabad-based company manufactures fabrics and made-ups besides a range of fashion accessory products such as shawls, stoles, mufflers, wraps and scarves. The company also has a range of interior decorative products such as window coverings, awnings, garden umbrellas and wooden floorings. In the domestic market, the products are marketed under its own brands, Le Pashmina and Vista

The company is investing Rs 600 crore in increasing capacity to manufacture towels, upholstery and for a spinning and weaving plant in Uttranchal.

Mr Gupta said that the company hoped to cash in on the demand for home furnishing in the Rs 500-crore domestic market and will be spending Rs 8-10 crore to promote the companies' products.

The company has launched bedsheets and duvets woven from organic cotton for the southern market. He said that Alps Industries was one of the first companies to enter the market with organic cotton and natural dyes. The company has a joint research project with IIT Delhi.

The products would be available in 600 shops in two years, Mr Gupta said. Currently, Vista Home Fashions has 28 distributors across the country with a 1,050 retailers. The company plans to double the number of retail outlets in the next one year.
