MphasiS Q3 net dips 12% to Rs 36 cr

MphasiS' consolidated net profit for the quarter-ended December 31, 2006 declined 12 per cent to Rs 35.8 crore as compared to Rs 40.8 crore in the corresponding last quarter. Revenues grew by 26 per cent to Rs 306 crore over the same quarter last year.

A forex loss of Rs 6 crore and a tax charge of Rs 2 crore impacted the company's profit growth.

But on a sequential basis, net profits were up 53 per cent and revenues grew five per cent over the September 2006 quarter, despite a strong rupee.

The MphasiS stock closed about four per cent higher at Rs 290.15 on the BSE on Thursday.

MphasiS added 11 new clients during the quarter of which nine were in software services and two in BPO.

Utilisation rates in IT services recorded an improvement to 78 per cent, while BPO utilisation was flat at 56 per cent.

The company added 271 employees to increase its total headcount to 12,719.

The company had cash reserves of Rs 115 crore at the end of the quarter.
