The Hindu Business Line : Choubey takes over at GAIL

New Delhi Feb. 2 Dr U.D. Choubey assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL (India) Ltd on Thursday. He was previously Director (Marketing), GAIL, a post he has held since May 2004. Mr Choubey succeeds Mr Mohan R. Hingnikar, who was holding additional charge as CMD of GAIL since November last year after Mr S.P. Rao, CMD and Director (Projects), superannuated from service on October 31, 2006.

Dr Choubey joined GAIL in 1986, during its formative period, and has been associated with the marketing department since then. He was the first Director (Marketing) of GAIL for a range of products and services in the field of natural gas, including R-LNG, LPG, propane and other liquid hydrocarbons, petrochemicals (HDPE and LLDPE) and bandwidth leasing in the telecom sector.
