Central Bank union calls for strike

Our Bureau

Coimbatore, Feb. 2

The United Forum of Central Bank Unions (UFCBU) has given a call to its members to go on an indefinite strike from February 22. About 40,000 employees and officers of Central Bank of India (belonging to the eight unions under the UFCBU banner) are expected to take part in the strike to protest the `vindictive attitude' of the management.

The General Secretary of the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), Mr C.H. Venkatachalam, said in a release that employees and officers of other banks have expressed support and decided to go on a day's strike on February 23, in solidarity with UFCBU.
