Textile machinery manufacturing major Lakshmi Machine Works' net profit almost doubled to Rs 44.66 crore in the just-ended quarter compared to Rs 23.36 crore during the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Its income from operations increased to Rs 465 43 crore (Rs 335.11 crore), with the textile machinery division accounting for over 90 per cent of the income and the rest from its machine tools and foundry divisions.

Other income rose marginally to Rs 25.78 crore (Rs 20.03 crore). On the expenditure front, the company's raw material consumption cost had risen to Rs 279.71 crore (Rs181.43 crore), staff cost to Rs 33 98 crore (Rs 25.87 crore) and other expenses by Rs 6.61 crore to Rs 74.15 crore (Rs 67.54 crore). The outgo on account of interest and bank charges has also risen to Rs 0.83 crore (Rs 0.64 crore).
