Sheet rubber prices improve

Kottayam Feb. 3 Physical rubber prices showed a better trend as covering groups turned active on Saturday. Sheet rubber improved to Rs 101 and Rs 100.75 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 100.50 a kg on Friday. The volumes were narrow.

Futures weak

On NMCE, the February contract was quoted at Rs 102.20 (Rs 102.50), March contract at Rs 104.90 (Rs 105.54), April at Rs 110.26 (Rs 110.84) and May contract at Rs 114.30 (Rs 114.93) a kg for RSS 4. The open interest was 13,192 (12,861) tonnes and turnover 1,258 (2,875) tonnes.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 101 (100.50); RSS-5: 96.50 (96); ungraded: 95 (94.25); ISNR 20: 94.50 (94) and latex 60 per cent: 66.30 (66.30).
