Mr V.V.R. Sastry has taken over as Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL). He succeeds Mr Y. Gopala Rao, who retired on January 31, a release said. Prior to the elevation, Mr Sastry was Director (Marketing). A graduate in science and electronics and communication engineering from Andhra University, Mr Sastry joined BEL Bangalore in 1969 as a probationary engineer. Mr Sastry headed BEL's New York office for three years.
