Outlook Superhouse to double leather output Our Bureau
Mr Mukhtarul Amin, Chairman, Superhouse, told reporters that the company was setting up two new shoe factories, one each in Kanpur and Agra, and a tannery in Kanpur. The total investment is around Rs 45 crore. Superhouse, a listed company, now has a capacity to produce about 2 million sq ft leather a month and this would be doubled with the new tannery which would produce 7 lakh sq ft leather a month, and through expansions at its existing unit. Footwear production would go up to 20,000 pairs a day from the present capacity of the 12,000 pairs. Each of its new factories would produce 4,000 pairs of footwear each, Mr Amin said. Mr Amin, who is also the Chairman, Council for Leather Exports, is in Chennai, for the India International Leather Fair. Its major markets are France, Germany, UK and Spain, he said.
