Gross bank credit up Rs 9,012 cr

Gross bank credit increased by Rs 9,012 crore and stood at Rs 17,66,491 crore for the fortnight ended January 19, according to the Reserve Bank of India's Weekly Statistical Supplement. The gross bank credit was inclusive of food credit, which fell by Rs 1,872 crore to touch Rs 41,210 crore and non-food credit, which increased by Rs 10,884 crore to Rs 17,25,281 crore. Total accommodation provided by banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investment in shares, debentures, bonds and commercial paper was at Rs 18,05,229 crore.
