Kakinada Feb. 4 The Andhra Pradesh Government is committed to taking IT to all parts of the State. The emphasis will be on promoting IT in the tier-two cities and towns in all the three regions of the State, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister, has said.

He was speaking in the collectorate here on Saturday after inaugurating the Software Technology Park of India in a temporary facility. A permanent facility would be constructed on an extent of three acres on the beach road and the State Government has sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the purpose, he added. Dr Reddy said there was immense potential for developing IT in the two Godavari districts. "It is not correct to say that my Government is focusing solely on agriculture. We are giving equal importance to the industry, especially IT," he clarified.

Mr M.M. Pallam Raju, Union Minister of State for Defence, representing the Kakinada Lok Sabha constituency, said, already Infotech had set up shop here and several IT companies were evincing interest. He added that several private engineering colleges had come up recently in the two Godavari districts.
