CM's assurance on Kakinada port

Our Bureau

Kakinada, Feb. 4

The interests of the Kakinada anchorage port workers will be safeguarded and both the old port and the new deepwater port will co-exist, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, said at a press meet here on Saturday evening, after a day-long review of the development activities in the East Godavari district.

He said that providing employment to workers was important regardless of whether the cargo was being handled at the new port or the old one. He, however, justified the handling of wheat shipments at the new port.
