Airlines States - Tamil Nadu Qatar Airways plans daily flights from Chennai
Nina Varghese
Chennai will be the sixth destination in India for the airline. The airline will use an A321 aircraft on this sector. In the air bilateral talks held in December last year, Qatar Airways was allowed 5,000 additional seats, bringing the total number of seats out of India to about 10,000, he said. Mr Al Rais said that the airline has about 75 per cent load factor out of India and operates out of Delhi, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad and Kochi. He said that the airline was going in for daily flights because of the increased demand for connectivity between India and the Gulf countries. There is also an increase in the number of tourists visiting India, especially for medical purposes.
