Tech institute signs MoUs with IBM

Mangalore Feb. 6 The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) at Surathkal near here has signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with IBM for academic and research collaboration.

A press release said here that Dr Sandeep Sancheti, Director of NITK; Mr Amol Mahamuni, Programme Director, University Relations, IBM; and Mr Harish K. Grama, Vice-President, IBM India; signed the MoUs at NITK recently.

The first MoU signed between NITK and IBM CAS (Centre for Advanced Studies) is to develop technologies and capabilities of common interest and engage in collaborative research initially. Under this, IBM will support NITK students and faculty to do their research.

The second MoU is to outline a strategic understanding between IBM and NITK to work together to create an `IBM Open Power Systems Laboratory' for students and faculty of NITK. To be set up at NITK, the laboratory will be the first of its kind in India, the release added.
