Pala society gets `Export House Status'

Kottayam, Feb. 6

Pala Rubber Marketing Co-operative Society has been awarded `Export House Status' by the Directorate of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Commerce for its performance on the basis of rubber export during the last 3 years. The society exported 12,000 tonnes of rubber worth Rs 72 crore during the period. For the first time in India, a primary co-operative society has been given such a status, said Prof. K.K. Abraham, President of the society. In 2005-06, the society got second place in rubber export.
