"This is probably the largest project of its kind. We will be providing the hardware, setting up the kiosks as well as managing the ATMs," said Mr Deepak Chandnani, Managing Director, NCR Corporation-India. He, however, declined to comment on the value of the deal. The SBI Group's ATM network will jump to 8,600 with this addition. The ATMs are expected to be set up by the end of 2007. The order for 3,000 units is a mix of full-function ATMs with depository and cash dispensers, capable of addressing routine transactions such as cash disbursal and functions such as airline and railway ticketing, deposits and customer relationship management, said an NCR press release. In November, NCR had concluded an agreement with SBI and its associate banks for implementing the cheque truncation solution an image-based cheque clearing system.
