Indian may run Mangalore to Sharjah services soon

Mangalore Feb. 7 Indian (formerly Indian Airlines) is likely to operate flights to Sharjah and Dubai from Mangalore soon.

Mr N.R. Pathak, Executive Director (Western Region), Indian Airlines, who came by Indian's inaugural flight of A320 to Mangalore from Mumbai, told presspersons here that bilateral agreement on a flight from Mangalore to Sharjah and Dubai is being worked out. "We shall come back to you with a good news soon in this regard," he said. However, he did not specify the timeframe for the introduction of Mangalore-Sharjah and Mangalore-Dubai flight.

To a query on whether Indian would introduce flights to other locations in the Gulf from Mangalore, he said Dubai and Sharjah are the priority destinations for now.

INAUGURAL OFFER

Indian, which commenced the operations of A320 to and from the Mangalore airport on Wednesday, has announced inaugural offer prices to various destinations.

Mr Pathak said that IA customers could fly from Mangalore to Mumbai at an inaugural offer price of Rs 2,425 onwards. Currently, passengers from Mangalore can fly to Sharjah, via Mumbai, at Rs 4,420 plus taxes; and to Dubai, via Mumbai, at Rs 6,045 plus taxes.

Mr Pathak said that Mangalore airport has been on the network map of IA for half-a-century.
