Mumbai Feb. 7 Wipro expects to close at least one acquisition in the current quarter, according to Mr Sudip Nandy, Chief Strategy Officer, Wipro Technologies.

He added that it is in active discussions with 10-12 companies for possible acquisitions in the healthcare, travel telecom, manufacturing, pharmacy and banking and financial services verticals. "We will be looking at acquiring companies in the price range of $50-200 million. We are not looking at (acquisition) deals below $40 million," said Mr Nandy.

Mr Nandy said that the company would be looking at complete buyouts, but a stake purchase cannot be ruled out.

This is in line with Wipro's strategy of acquiring a string of companies across different verticals that either fill up their technology gaps or a ready customer base. It has put through half a dozen acquisitions over the past 12 months.
