Guntur, Feb. 7

The delegation of Indian tobacco growers, on a study tour to Zimbabwe and Brazil, visited the Zimbabwe tobacco research station. In a message sent from that country on Wednesday, Mr J. Suresh Babu, Chairman of the Tobacco Board, said watching and understanding techniques used for curing tobacco proved beneficial to the delegation of farmers. The team also visited commercial farms as well as the smaller ones to study the method of cultivation. The discussion with the Zimbabwe Tobacco Association ranged from the design of barns to reducing the cost of fuel in curing, Mr Suresh Babu said. He said the delegation had also met the Marketing Board. The delegation included Dr Y. Sivaji, President of the Andhra Pradesh Tobacco Growers' Association.
