Chennai Feb. 7 The Tibre brand of men's trousers is expanding its product portfolio to include casual wear and accessories, besides a new range of shirts introduced recently.

According to Mr S. Mohan Adiram, Head - Sales and Marketing, Gangotri Apparels, which owns the Tibre brand and a division of Gangotri Textiles Ltd, the company will launch men's apparel such as jeans wear, cargo pants, T-shirts and ties this year. About Rs 4 crore would be invested in setting up T-shirts and tie-manufacturing divisions, he said.

The company recently introduced formal and casual shirts for men.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Mohan said the company was increasing its marketing spend this year. "Last year, we spent about Rs 3 crore in advertising," he said.

With new products in the pipeline, the company has chalked out a comprehensive marketing plan focussing more on print advertisements and hoardings. It is also in the process of roping in a celebrity brand ambassador besides signing up professional models to market its products.

It has also roped in designers to introduce new fashions periodically across the product range, he said.

The company will also set up eight exclusive Tibre showrooms in 2007-08. Tier-I cities will have flagship stores run by the company while those in Tier-II will be operated by franchisees. At present, the company is pilot testing two showrooms in Coimbatore and plans to set up two more in Chennai. "We plan to have about 40 showrooms across India by 2010," said Mr Mohan.

The company expects to double its revenues in 2007-08. The company, which sold about 2.5 lakh trousers, expects to sell about 7 lakh trousers and about 3 lakh shirts in 2007-08, he said.

This will generate sales of about Rs 55 crore. Last year about Rs 15 crore worth of trousers were sold. The company has yarn-spinning units in Coimbatore and Kolhapur, a garment-stitching unit in Coimbatore and a washing and processing unit at Perundurai, in Erode district. It also has a fully integrated textile unit at Coimbatore.
