Rapeseed extraction exports rise

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Feb. 8

A major jump in rapeseed extraction exports to 91,650 tonnes was a notable feature of oilmeal shipments in January , while soyabean extractions were flat at a little over 5 lakh tonnes, according to data released by the Solvent Extractors Association of India. The association attributed the rise in rapeseed meal exports to continuous crushing of rapeseed by Nafed.

Total export of all oilmeals during January was 6.46 lakh tonnes (lt). This takes the cumulative shipment figure since April 2006 to 38.22 lt, up from 29.51 lt during same period in 2005-06. Vietnam (8.97 lt), South Korea (7.63 lt) and Indonesia (5.91 lt) have been major buyers. Kandla handled 20.3 lt followed by 8.6 lt by Mumbai port. 5.7 lt were shipped out of Bedi at Jamnagar.
