AP Co-ops' plea to Nabard

Hyderabad Feb. 8 The President of the Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Bank Ltd, Mr Vasanta Nageswara Rao, has urged Nabard to help cooperatives in the country, especially those in Andhra Pradesh.

At a meeting with the Chairman of Nabard, Dr Y.S.P. Thorat, in Mumbai, he requested a favourable disposition to the crop credit system in AP from Nabard, which is a major supporter.

An additional loan of Rs 150 crore was needed for 2006-07 for the State. Similarly, an ad hoc release of Rs 703.66 crore of assistance as part of the revival package recommended by the Prof A. Vaidyanathan Committee and decided in the National Implementation Monitoring Committee, should be considered, Mr Rao told the Nabard Chairman, according to a Bank press release here.
