Garware Offshore, Havyard MoU

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Feb. 9

Garware Offshore Services Ltd has signed an MoU with Norway's Havyard Leirvik for marketing of ships built by Havyard to Indian shipping companies.

The Havyard group, a fully integrated shipbuilding yard, has delivered more than 100 vessels. It has sold a platform support vessel to Garware, with three more to be delivered in 2007-08. Garware is also planning to set up a knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) unit in India, in collaboration with Havyard, which would design all types of marine assets.

The KPO unit will provide a variety of solutions to shipyards by customising designs to suit different requirements. The design centre will also cater to the international market, especially in the marine asset segment required for offshore oil and gas exploration.
