Globally, it would add around 54,000 employees to end 2007 with about 1,60,000, he told newspersons. "India is truly the crown jewel of our global delivery network (GDN)," which has more than 53,000 professionals in 44 centres spanning 29 cities across five continents," he said.
Raising headcount
"Overall, we expect to have 65,000 in our GDN by the end of this (fiscal) year, with about half of them in India." A majority of Accenture's Indian employees are part of the network, Mr Rohleder pointed out. Accenture has been operating in India since 1987 with presence in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and Delhi. It recently established its Accenture Technology Lab facility in Bangalore its first Technology Lab in Asia focussing on research and development in systems integration and software engineering. It also established a Business Consulting Analytics Centre in Delhi to provide a global network with access to consulting skills. The centre provides clients with capabilities such as customer, marketing and data analytics; marketing automation and campaign management; and enterprise performance management, he said.
Chennai centre
In Chennai, Accenture has added 3,000 seats to its existing facility in Sozhinganallur. It set up its operations in the city in 2005 and in the past 12 months the company increased its headcount in Chennai to 3,000 from 1,100. This centre is also part of Accenture's GDN, Mr Rohleder said. Accenture (Chennai) will hire technology professionals with skills in open systems (Microsoft .NET and Java), host-centric systems (mainframes) and enterprise solutions (SAP, Siebel and Oracle). The company is also recruiting professionals with skills in financial services, automotive, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and other industries, and for its BPO operations , according to a company press release.
