Ind-Swift undergoes FDA audit

Ind-Swift Laboratories Ltd claims to have had a successful audit of its Clarithromycin, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing facility, by the US Food and Drug Authority. "This would enable us to roll out our APIs in the North American market. Ind-Swift Laboratories Inc (the US subsidiary of the Indian company) has partnered with top US generic companies for generic pharmaceutical business," said Mr Vikas Narendra, President, Ind-Swift Laboratories Inc, in a company release. According to the company spokesperson, Ind-Swift cannot disclose its marketing partners since its partners are yet to receive ANDA approvals. Clarithromycin is a Macrolide Antibiotic Molecule used in the treatment of lower respiratory tract infections. The company also hopes to launch its drugs in the Japanese market soon. According to Ind-Swift, its net profit was down 39.4 per cent to Rs 5.51 crore in the quarter ended December 2006 compared with Rs 9.10 crore for the corresponding quarter in the previous year. Net sales were up nearly 16 per cent to Rs 95.3 crore against Rs 82.35 crore. However it is hopeful of doing good business, led by exports, in the coming quarter.
