Bangalore Feb.10 It will be another `long' weekend for the city's IT employees as the Cauvery debate continues.

Even as colleges, schools remain closed, IT firms and State Government bureaus will be unofficially closed on Monday as Kannada organisations protest against the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal verdict.

IT firms are learning how to deal with Bangalore's choppy waters. Decisions will be made on Monday morning, after watching the situation.

Wait and decide

Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Infosys and Wipro have said the decision would be taken after looking at the situation on Monday.

"The company may be closed on Monday," said the spokespersons.

Transport will be arranged for employees and due care taken.

If the strike is complete and total, Monday will be given off and compensation for the day's loss will be taken care of on Saturday.

Some to remain closed

Employees of iFlex and Dell will be home this Monday. Comparing the situation to the sad aftermath of Kannada actor Rajkumar's death, iFlex does not want to take a chance with the strike.

Sasken and Infinite Technologies will also remain closed on Monday.

Some companies have not yet determined how they will compensate for the day's loss.

Demonstrations, protests and processions peppered the week.

The bandh is expected to be total with public transportation coming to a halt.
