Work begins on largest shipyard

According to a Xinhua report, the construction of the world's largest shipyard has begun on Shanghai's Changxing Island.

The shipyard, to be known as Changxing Shipyard Base, will have a quayline length of more than 4500 metres and a state-of-the-art shipyard large enough to handle construction of ships up to the capacity of 500,000 DWT and to repair up to 200 vessels of various shapes and sizes in a year.
