NCDC aid to AP set to cross Rs 1,000 crore

Hyderabad Feb. 11 The total assistance from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) to Andhra Pradesh is set to cross the Rs 1,000-crore mark by the end of March.Cumulatively, NCDC has provided a total assistance of Rs 939.19 crore to the State at the end of January 2007.

Andhra Pradesh stands first amongst States in availing of a record assistance from the NCDC during 2005-06.

According to Mr A.M. Kale, Regional Director, NCDC here, the State has been getting financial assistance for various cooperative development activities during the last two years, approximately up to Rs 445 crore.

MAJOR PROJECTS

With the State Government and APCOB implementing major projects such as modernisation/expansion of sugar cooperatives, farm mechanisation, Integrated Child Development Programme, working capital to DCCB & sugar cooperatives, NCDC has made a tentative allocation of Rs 500 crore for the current fiscal, Mr Kale said in a press release.

Till January 31, 2007 about Rs 133.10 crore has been availed by the cooperatives/APCOB and the State Government. A review meeting of the various activities was held here recently, the release said.
