Ahmedabad Feb 11 The 3rd National Conference on Indian Energy Sector will be held from February 24 to 24 on the theme of "Synergy with Energy."

Mr Jaynarayan Vyas, Chairman of Saket Projects Ltd and Convener of the meet, told newspersons that Union Energy Minister Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde has been invited to inaugurate the three-day event.

Chief Minister Mr Narendra Modi will preside over the inaugural function and also inaugurate an exhibition, "India Energy Show 2007."

The keynote address will be delivered by IIM-A Director Dr Bakul Dholakia.

Central Electricity Authority Chairman Mr Rakesh Nath will deliver a special address during the inaugural session while Dr Kirit Parikh, Member, Planning Commission, will do so on the last day.

A number of corporate houses, Ministries and Departments, including the Union Ministry of Energy, are supporting the event, said Mr Vyas.

He added that India cannot make desired progress unless it has full security in food, water and energy.

While the country has less than one per cent of the world's known and proven hydrocarbon resources, it also consumes more energy per capita than most other countries.

The conference would endeavour to discuss these and related issues such as energy audit, he added.
