The stores were inaugurated by the first customers who walked into them, in accordance with its motto, `Grahak Devobhava' (Customer is God), according to Mr Venugopal, the head of the sales division. He said at a press meet in China Waltair store that Reliance had at present 56 stores - 12 in Chennai, seven in Jaipur, nine in the National Capital Region, 21 in Hyderabad and seven in Vijayawada-Guntur region. "With the addition of the three stores today, the number goes up to 59. We plan to open more stores here and in Hyderabad and we are also eyeing other towns in the coastal region and Telangana," he said.
EXPANSION PLANS
The number of Reliance stores may go up to 40 by the end of the financial year in Andhra Pradesh alone and 75-100 by the end of June this year. "We have 30 collection centres in the State. We are focusing on the State," he explained. He claimed the response to the stores had been very good, from the consumers as well as the farmers. "We are offering vegetables, fruits, cereals, staples and grocery products at much lower costs than the prevailing rates. We are studying the requirements in each locality and trying to cater to their needs," he explained. The company had already signed up 2.4 lakh customers for Reliance One, a membership and loyalty programme designed to deliver customised benefits to frequent shoppers. Customers could earn one Reliance One point for every Rs 100 spent in the store.
