New Delhi Feb. 12 Japan External Trade Organisation (Jetro) Chairman and CEO, Mr Osamu Watanabe, called on the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, here on Monday.

Mr Watanabe conveyed to Dr Singh Japan's growing interest in investing in India and said that the high level of Japanese participation at the India Engineering Trade Fair is a manifestation of growing Japanese interest in doing business in India. Mr Watanabe told the Prime Minister that Jetro is committed to the Mumbai-Delhi industrial corridor initiative that was announced during the visit of the Prime Minister to Japan in December last year, an official release said.

The Mumbai-Delhi industrial corridor will come up alongside the rail freight corridor being set up with Japanese assistance. The Prime Minister said that the industrial corridor concept will be a landmark project and must be implemented at the earliest.
